Chapter 7: Weapons of Mass Destruction

Outcome:

Navy quarantine ships move into position around Cuba. Soviet submarines move into the Caribbean Sea, threatening the quarantine. Soviet freighters carrying military supplies stop in place. The Soviet Union declares that US naval action is more than a quarantine. Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev declares that you "are setting forth an ultimatum and threatening that if we do not give in to your demands you will use force. You are no longer appealing to reason, but wish to intimidate us." Within the next day or so, the freighters turn and head back to Europe.

What do you do now?

Reach out to international organizationsSeek support for your actions from the Organization of American States and the United Nations Security Council.
Write a personal letter to Nikita KhrushchevAgain encourage him to change his course of action. Explain that the quarantine is only a defensive measure and will be immediately stopped if Soviet missiles are removed from Cuba.
Launch a nuclear strike on the missile sites in CubaThis will serve to entirely destroy the new sites and to send a message that the US will not accept nuclear weapons so near its own territory.
Launch nuclear strikes against the Soviet UnionAim primarily at key military and government installations. If the Soviet Union is willing to put weapons so close to the United States, it seems they must be preparing for a nuclear attack. It is absolutely essential that you strike first, to gain the upper hand before Moscow does.
